About The Scourge

The Scourge is a band of chaotic pirates within the Jackals Faction. It consists of Scourge captains Mercurius Stark, Madboots Marly, Deathman, Drox Graywolf and Madzinas, plus their crews, including Calico and Cook. They fight together, raid together, drink together and laugh together.

Their symbol is a combination of a coiled serpent and the eight-pointed Chaos Star.

The Scourge are members of the Pirates League, a loose pan-faction federation of Chaos-supporting pirate crews of which Mercurius is Admiral. While the idea of Chaos aligned pirates having an admiral might seem strange, Mercurius' oversight and tactical thinking helps to maximise profits and reduce unnecessary risk.

Originally members of the Viper Faction, The Scourge acted as the maritime auxiliary to a military unit known as The Legion of Teutonia, providing training, transport and additional land going or seaborne combat power. Another key ally was The Faculty, keepers of arcane knowledge and master weaponsmiths able to manufacture magical items.

In 1121, The Scourge were bequeathed an army in the will of their fallen comrade-in-arms, Hans of the The Legion of Teutonia. It has been retrained as Marines fighting on The Scourge's ships.

In 1124, The Scourge decided to switch their operations from the chill waters of the north of Erdreja to the warm waters of the south, there to 'trade' and explore the vast Southlands of Persia, Aegyptus, Graecia, Murabia, Arabia and The Warrens.

Their motto and war-cry is:
